Rich medal haul for India at Asian Archery

India clinched four gold medals, five silver and two bronze at Asian Grand Prix Archery tournament that concluded in Bangkok on Sunday.

 
The men\\\’s compound trio of Rajat Chauhan, Ritul Chatterjee and Chittibomma Jignas triumphed in the final defeating Hong Kong 224-211. In the semis, they had stunned Korea 236-224.
 
Earlier, India\\\’s Jignas won the individual and Rajat Chauhan and Jhano Hansdah took the mixed team gold medals.
 
Jignas and Rajat Chauhan became the two key players to win two gold medals each in this championship. Jignas added the team gold to the individual he won earlier, while Chauhan also had a mixed team gold to his credit.
 
The compound women\\\’s team of Jhano Hansdah, Gagandeep Kaur and Manjudha Soy had to settle for a bronze after beating Hong Kong 227-215 in the play-off. In the semis, they had lost to the eventual winners Thailand 217-221.
 
Deepika Kumari, Chekrovolu Swuro and Laishram Bombayla Devi, who will be representing Indian in the women\\\’s recurve at the London Olympics, won silver after defeating Japan in the semi-finals 217-213.
 
However, they suffered a 211-213 defeat to China by a slender 211-213 margin in finals. 
 
The new-look Indian men\\\’s recurve side, comprising Jayanta Talukdar, Mangal Singh Champia and Thupuvoyi Swuro, prevailed over Japan in the semi-final 222-219 but lost to France in the summit clash.
