Performing arts can do wonders
Apr 16, 2012 | Pratirodh BureauSanjana Kapoor, the lady who is responsible for the revival of Prithvi theatre in Mumbai, strongly feels that Arts help in moulding the personality of a child.
The noted Indian theatre personality says that Arts should be taught to the school students in India more seriously.
"Arts, be it visual or performing, should be included in the school curricullum rather than just be treated as a mere hobby", she added.
"We need institutions to nurture talent. There are children who are talented and look forward to a career in creative arts", she said.
Sanjana worked with stubborn dedication at Prithvi theatre for about 21 years to restructure it into a vibrant professional theatre venue to nurture talent.
The lady has now reinvented her popular summer workshops for children under her new banner, Junoon.
This programme called Arts at Play is the maiden venture of Junoon which will continue till June. A list of 45 workshops and 18 plays has been prepared for this.
Theatre personalities like Nadira Babbar, Naseeruddin Shah and Makarand Deshpande are participating in this special programme for kids.
While designing the programme Junoon has ensured that children enjoy in creative and non-competitive environment.
