Parimarjan, another chess champ from India

Indian grandmaster Parimarjan Negi has won the Asian continental chess championship in Vietnam on Sunday.
Negi won the championship on seven points despite losing to AR Saleh Salem of UAE in the final round.
Negi was tied for the first place along with Chinese grand master Yu Yangyi. But, he won by tie breaker as he had beaten Yangyi in their individual encounter.
20-year-old Negi had lost to Sandipan Chanda in 14th Dubai International Open last month. However, he did not allow the defeat to pull him down.
"The point is to come out of the loss and resurrect though its difficult but I was able to do it this time," said Negi soon after his gold medal performance.
Negi has performed well in all the recent tournaments. He did well in the last Gibraltar open wherein most of the top players could not break his defenses, while in the strong Cappelle De Grande tournament he tied for first along with compatriot P Harikrishna.
The new Asian chess champion said that he has worked hard to become more consistent than the last year.
Talking about his future plans, he said that he is looking forward to the upcoming tournaments and hopes that his next step would be a giant leap.
