Tribals treated like animals

In a shocking revelation, The Guardian has released a video on its website which shows bare chested Jarawa tribal women dancing for the tourists in Andaman and Nicobar Island.
The website states that the tribal women, naked waist up, were forced by police officials to dance for the tourists\\\’ amusement in return of food.
“I gave you food, dance,” the cop, not seen in the video, is heard instructing the women. The video was filmed by one of the tourists.
The policeman reportedly took the bribe of 200-pound from the tourists to make the innocent women dance half naked for them.
However, the Andaman police has downplayed the controversy by calling the video 10-year-old.
Andaman DGP SB Deol has also refuted the allegations that the policemen took bribe from the tourists.
He accused the journalist, who shot the video, of breaking the law and forcing the Jarawa women to dance for the tourists.
"It is obvious that it is the videographer who is breaking the law of the land and who is inciting the tribals to dance," the DGP added.
The website claims that the Jarawa tribe has lived in peace in the Andaman Islands for thousands of years but tour companies are now running safaris through their jungle. Wealthy tourists pay police to make the women – usually naked – dance for their amusement.
Meanwhile, after the video surfaced on prominent Indian news channel, the Centre has asked the Andaman administration to explain that how the tribal women were forced to dance for tourists.
We really hope that the case does not meet the fate of several other such disclosures in which the probe takes ages to conclude and an eternity to be implemented if at all.
The Jarawas are one of the indigenous people of the Andaman Islands and in 1998 they started to venture out of the jungles.
