The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest in New Delhi on October 15, demanding justice for 26-year-old Anandu Aji, a software engineer from Kerala, whose body was discovered at a lodge in Thampanoor on October 9. Aji’s death has ignited controversy after a scheduled Instagram post appeared, accusing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of being responsible and alleging childhood sexual abuse by someone close to his family. Led by IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib, the demonstrators marched from the IYC headquarters toward Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, calling for a thorough investigation.
Chib, addressing the crowd, lambasted the RSS, stating, “The RSS had become a den of exploitation.” He emphasized the need for accountability, adding, “Anandu Aji’s final social media post is a cry for justice. The FIR must include the RSS as named by him. The truth must come out and the guilty should be punished.” The protest highlighted Aji’s allegations of harassment during RSS training camps, with Chib asserting, “We want justice not only for Anandu but for every child who has faced such trauma.”
Delhi Police intervened, detaining several protesters to maintain order. The IYC alleged that Aji, a software engineer from Kottayam, was driven to suicide by years of abuse and RSS-related harassment. “This is a grave injustice, and we demand a central probe into the matter,” Chib urged, underscoring the need for systemic change.
The RSS responded on October 14, calling for a comprehensive inquiry into Aji’s “unnatural death” and the social media claims. However, the IYC rejected this as insufficient, with Chib demanding immediate action: “The government must ensure a fair and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable.”
The protest reflects growing concerns over institutional failures in addressing such cases, as the IYC pushes for broader reforms. With elections looming in states like Bihar, the incident has fueled debates on social justice and minority rights, amplifying calls for transparency and protection against exploitation.
