Coronavirus Cases In India Near 20,000

With 1,383 fresh coronavirus cases reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of cases in India has gone up to 19,984, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.

The death toll from Covid-19 has risen to 640 after 50 casualties were reported in 24 hours. And at present, there are 15,474 active coronavirus patients in the country. Health Ministry data showed that 3,869 people who had been infected with conoravirus have recovered.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 5,218 cases and 251 casualties. The other states that have seen the most number of cases include Gujarat (2,178), Delhi (2,156), Tamil Nadu (1,596), Rajasthan (1,659), Madhya Pradesh (1,552), Uttar Pradesh (1,294) and Telangana (928).

As of Tuesday, about 4.5 lakh samples for COVID-19 infection had been tested, a top official of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

India’s apex medical research body, ICMR, on Tuesday advised states to stop using the rapid antibody test kits for the next two days till it examines their quality in the wake of complaints that they are not fully effective, Press Trust of India reported.

Across the world, the total number of coronavirus cases has crossed 25 lakh while the death toll has gone above 1.77 lakh, according to latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University.

In the United States, coronavirus deaths topped 45,000 while the total number of cases went past 8.2 lakh.

The United States has by far the world’s largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases at over 8.2 lakh, almost four times as many as Spain, the country with the second-highest number.
