Ambani’s home extension to be probed

Maharashtra government has ordered secretary-level inquiry into alleged unauthorised construction adjoining Antilia, the lavish multi-storey residence of Mukesh Ambani.
Minister of State for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav said that the 309.31 sq mt of land, adjacent to the Antilia building, was given to BMC for the road widening work but instead the civic officials gave the developer additional Transfer Development Rights (TDR) and Floor Space Index (FSI), which has been fully utilised.
Illegal constructions like protection wall, stairs and parking space was carried out on the plot as part of the extension of Antilia.
Leader of the Opposition Eknath Khadse alleged that the construction was later legalised with the help of top BMC officials. He further demanded probe into the role of the concerned officials.
"The construction was legalised after Ambani visited the BMCcommissioner after which the land was handed over to Reliance for annual lease of Rs 10.63 lakh," Khadse said.
Khadse also said that the government was trying to shield Ambani despite of being aware that he had got illegal constructions carried out on the plot as part of extension of his house Antilia.
Meanwhile, Jadhav assured impartial and fair probe into the matter and said that if any unauthorised construction is proved, it would be demolished.
